ONE CONNECTED ACCOUNTING JOURNEY

Good accounting services should connect—not compete for attention.

Bookkeeping supports VAT and year-end accounts. Payroll feeds the wider records. Tax preparation depends on complete information. Advisory and fractional CFO work become more useful when current management information already exists.

This services hub is organised around those user journeys. Each page has a defined role, and the links below move you towards the next responsibility rather than sending every visitor to every service.

STAGE 01 / START

Build the business on an appropriate structure

Formation is only one part of starting. The entity also needs records, tax-registration decisions and a timetable for its first filings.

PRIMARY SERVICE

Company & LLP Formation

Support choosing between common UK structures, organising founder information, preparing the incorporation application and identifying immediate post-formation accounting actions.

  • Private limited company and LLP formation routes
  • Founder, ownership and control information
  • Registered details and identity-verification readiness
  • Post-formation bookkeeping and tax setup

STAGE 02 / ORGANISE

Create records that other accounting work can rely upon

Unreconciled transactions, incomplete source documents and old balances can affect VAT, annual accounts, tax returns and business decisions.

PRIMARY SERVICE

Bookkeeping Services

Recurring or catch-up bookkeeping for UK businesses, with transaction recording, bank reconciliation, records review and visible queries before the period is closed.

  • Monthly, quarterly or defined catch-up work
  • Sales, purchases and bank reconciliation
  • Customer and supplier balance review
  • Records prepared for VAT, accounts and tax work

STAGE 04 / DECIDE & GROW

Use the right level of financial decision support

A defined advisory project and recurring Fractional CFO support are connected, but they solve different needs.

DEFINED QUESTION OR PROJECT

Business Advisory

For profitability, pricing, cash-flow, structure, cost or growth questions that need a focused review and practical recommendation.

BEST WHEN
  • A specific decision is blocked
  • The project has a clear deadline
  • A one-off model or review is needed
  • Implementation actions can be defined

SERVICES BY BUSINESS SITUATION

Different clients enter the accounting journey at different points

These routes combine the most relevant services without claiming that every client needs a full package.

SOLE TRADERS & FREELANCERS

Keep records clear and prepare for Self Assessment

Bookkeeping may support income and expense records, while Self Assessment handles the relevant annual reporting.

SMALL LIMITED COMPANIES

Connect bookkeeping, payroll, VAT and year-end work

The required combination depends on whether the company employs people, is VAT registered and how often information is needed.

LANDLORDS & PROPERTY OWNERS

Organise property income, costs and relevant tax reporting

Property records should separate income and costs by the relevant activity before tax returns or disposal reporting are prepared.

CONSTRUCTION BUSINESSES

Separate payroll, CIS, VAT and project records

Construction businesses may need connected services while keeping employee and subcontractor responsibilities distinct.

ECOMMERCE & RETAIL

Reconcile channels, payment providers and VAT records

Platform settlements, refunds, fees and sales channels often need to be understood together before reporting.

GROWING BUSINESSES

Move from annual accounts to current management information

Recurring reports and forecasts may become necessary when owners need to make regular hiring, pricing or investment decisions.

SWITCHING ACCOUNTANTS

Your starting service depends on what is already complete.

A transfer is easier when the current records, filing status, software access and outstanding responsibilities are identified before a new recurring service begins.

Discuss switching support →
01

Identify the immediate deadline

Confirm which return, payroll, VAT period or accounts filing needs attention first.

02

Review the current records

Establish whether bookkeeping is complete and which balances or periods remain unresolved.

03

Confirm access and handover information

Identify software, prior reports, authority requirements and information held by the outgoing accountant.

04

Separate catch-up from recurring work

Agree any repair or historic work before setting the ongoing service timetable.

HOW AN ENQUIRY BECOMES A SERVICE

Four steps from first conversation to agreed work

The purpose of the first discussion is to identify the correct scope—not to force every enquiry into a standard package.

1EXPLAIN

Describe the responsibility or problem

Tell us the entity type, current records, deadline and result you need.

2ASSESS

Identify the logical starting point

We consider whether the work begins with records, a filing, setup or decision support.

3SCOPE

Confirm inclusions and responsibilities

The proposed work, information required, fee and client approval points are agreed.

4BEGIN

Start with a visible timetable

Records, access and deadlines are organised around the agreed service process.

Which accounting service should I choose first?

Start with the responsibility blocking the next step. Incomplete records normally point to bookkeeping. A VAT period, payroll run or tax deadline points to the relevant compliance service. A defined commercial decision may need business advisory, while recurring reporting and forecasting may indicate Fractional CFO support.

Can Path Accountants provide several services together?

Connected services can be agreed where they support the same finance process. For example, bookkeeping may feed VAT and tax work, while payroll figures may need to be reflected in the accounting records. Each inclusion should still be stated clearly.

Do you support clients across the UK?

Path Accountants provides remote accounting services for UK clients. The practical service depends on the work required, available records and whether any matter needs local or specialist representation outside the agreed scope.

Can you take over from another accountant?

Yes, subject to reviewing the current filing position, outstanding work, records, software access and information needed from the previous accountant. Historic catch-up work may need a separate scope.

Can I use accounting software instead of an accountant?

Software can record transactions, calculate figures and support filing workflows. It does not decide whether records are complete, interpret every unusual transaction or replace professional review where the position is unclear.

Are fees fixed?

A proposed fee can be agreed for a defined scope. The amount depends on the service, transaction volume, record quality, number of employees, filing frequency, complexity and whether catch-up or implementation work is required.

Do you guarantee tax savings or a particular result?

No. The purpose is to perform the agreed work using the relevant facts and records. Tax liabilities, business results, funding decisions and other outcomes depend on circumstances outside an accountant’s control.
